The Restoration: Re-Tolex the Cabinet and New Grill Cloth

The Speaker Baffle and Cabinet

Prior to the recovering.

The Old Tolex is Removed

Sanding off the old glue

Mark is carefully sanding off the old glue which evens the wood so that bumps and blisters wont form with the new tolex.

Installing the Speaker Grill Cloth

Curtis is applying the new tolex

A messy but necessary job in this case. Not all amps need to be re-tolexed but if there are significant dings and tears in important places its worth the effort and Curtis does this so well!

The Deluxe Reverb back side

Here is the refinished amp from the back view - back panels haven't been installed yet.

Wow! Does this 40 year old amp look new or what

This may get mistaken for a Fender Deluxe Reverb 65 Re-issue, currently available in your music store, except it says Fender Elec Inst Co on the front panel which was Leo Fender's pre-CBS company.

All of the hardware from chassis hangers to feet has been replaced with new parts from Fender. The Violet pilot lamp is my trademark on all of my amps. I always wanted one on my 66 Princeton Reverb back in the day (when I was 15) and didn't know how to get them - so these days in my second childhood I indulge.....

Lastly - the 64 Deluxe Reverb doesn't appear in most pictures I have seen to have a Fender Logo on the grill so I didn't put one on.
